RSDecon

RSDecon is a brand of products manufactured by the Healthcare Protective Products Division (HPPD) of Bracco Diagnostics Inc., the exclusive global manufacturer and marketer of RSDL.

RSDL is a patented, broad spectrum skin decontamination product intended to neutralize or remove chemical warfare agents or T-2 toxin from the skin. It is packaged in an easy to open pouch and provides emergency service personnel and military organizations with real defense from the dangers of exposure to chemical and biological weapons. RSDL is a topical decontamination solution that has been tested and shown to reduce toxic effects from exposure to chemical warfare agents and T-2 toxin. RSDL contains Dekon 139 and a small amount of 2,3 butadiene monoxime (DAM). These compounds are dissolved in a solvent composed of polyethylene glycol monomethyl ether (MPEG) and water. This solvent system is particularly important as it promotes the decontamination reaction by actively desorbing, retaining and sequestering the chemical agent, while the active ingredient chemically reacts with, and rapidly neutralizes the vesicant chemical or the organophosphorous nerve agent. This reaction starts immediately and neutralization is usually complete within two minutes.

RSDL has been adopted by the U.S. DoD and fielded by the militaries of Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Luxembourg, Ireland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, and The UK, and by First Responders in Australia, Canada, Sweden, and select units in the US.
